how good and reliable are cingular refurbished cell phones? I need a new phone and cannot afford a new one, I am interested in the Blackberry Pearl and am considering purchasing a refurbished one. Would it be worth it to do so?

What I have noticed is that the refurbished phones are significantly cheaper that the new ones. Desperate for an answer...Cingular Phones!? So I'm with Cingular and on a family plan. I updated on October 14, 06 to a motorola SLVR. So the phone has always dropped calls, lost service, froze and makes this annoying bzzz noise constantly in the background. My store sucks i went to a new one who gave me the warranty number, i called, they reset it, it still had problems so i called back. They said under warranty they can send me a new and I would send my old one in. I agreed but here is my main issue. If they believe there is "physical damage" they can charge me $210. I agreed and my phone has no water damage (white dot) but some exterior chips and scratches but no "cracks" and the service person said no big deal probably. Main question is if they send me the new one and say my old one is damaged and try to charge me the money can I say screw it, send me my old phone and can they? I do not want to pay for a refurbished phone I mean mine sucks but not that bad! What is your experience?

Cingular Phone return ? I signed up for cingular 2 weeks ago online. I did the 2 years contract for a deal on a Refurbish blackberry 8700 for $50 only. So phone came and I like it alot until it fell on floor by mistake and its not badly scratch but little ding, Its not bad or noticeable but I decide to take advantage and complain its not workin well, so they can exchange another new refurbish phone for me. So they did ! it came in mail today but they charge me $50 bucks until I return my old one to them. My question is , what if I kept both of the phones ? one to use and one as backup just in case. Will they see that I kept the phone and charge me more ? can they track the phone if I sold it to a friend or etc? should I take risk or be nice guy and return the phone?

Issues with my Cingular/AT&T phone insurance. What to do? My cell phone was either lost or stolen when I was on vacation last week. It was a Sony Erikkson phone with a Walkman .mp3 player feature. A very nice phone that I always got compliments on. When we discovered the phone was lost for good, we went by the Cingular/AT&T store in our neighborhood and were told that they would mail us a refurbished phone for a $50 deductible and that the phone would have all the same features as the one that was lost. When I get my new phone, it's a Nokia something-or-other flip phone with no ability to use or download .mp3 files. It's just an all-around crappier phone. Is there anything I should be able to do about this problem, or am I just going to have to take it up the tailpipe from yet another large, faceless company? Are they in the wrong, or was I just misinformed by the guy at the store? If they are in the wrong, who do I have to talk to? PS: The phone was also mailed to me with no working signal. How can I tell if my broken screen on my Sony Ericcson W600i is damaged under warranty? The phone has three black areas in the upper right corner, which are visible when the phone is off. When the phone is turned on, these areas become much larger and the rest of the phone is all white. A day before I found my screen like that, I was trying to take a picture with the camera phone and the colors were incredibly messed up.
