If I buy "unlocked" cingular phones, can I just put my SIM card in and start using on my current plan?
This has to do with buying phones on Ebay. I don't want to have to go into the Cingular store to get the phone registered or activated or whatever.

- That is true. "Unlocked" means it will work on any network. Call the phone maker to be sure (Ex: Motorola).
- Yes as long as the phone is a GSM phone. You can even buy a locked phone for you cell phone provider. Unlocked just means you can use it for any provider. I bought a CIngular unlocked phone on Ebay and use my T-Mobile SIM card in it.
- If you have Cingular sevice, you can purchase ANY Cingular branded phone (it does not have to be unlocked) All you would do is pop your sim card in and you are good to go. No need to activate or register, your sim is already activated The only time you would need the phone unlocked is if the phone was a non cingular branded GSM phone. For a non Cingular branded phone to accept the Cingular sim, it has to be unlocked Cheers
